Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s installment of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays, where I highlight three pieces of content (Podcasts/Shows/Songs/Articles/etc.) that I found interesting or noteworthy from the prior week.
[Movie] The Ballad of Wallis Island
This type of movie won’t make much at the box office, but man am I happy that it exists.
It’s a lovely comedy that also makes you feel something. Irreverent, yet wholesome. I haven’t seen a movie like that in a long time.
Also, shoutout to Tim Key. He seems to be having a bit of a moment. I just saw him play the all-important role of “Pigeon Man” in Mickey 17. And now he’s the star of a movie all-his-own, which (between you and me) I thought was much better.
It will have a short run in theaters, so if you don’t get the chance to see it before it’s gone, definitely check it out on streaming.
[Trailer] Disney+ - Tales of the Underworld
I’ve loved these animated Star Wars miniseries. Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Sith told the stories of some previously underserved characters, which was awesome for a total nerd like me (I particularly loved the Count Dooku plotline).
But I could not be more excited to get some bonus Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane action. These are two of the coolest characters from The Clone Wars and Bad Batch series, so hopefully they don’t mess up their revivals. They already botched Bane’s reappearance in The Book of Boba Fett, so they are on a short leash.
[Trailer] Disney+ - Not Just A Goof
Now this one might be a little lame, because the documentary just came out yesterday. I haven’t seen the documentary, but I have seen the trailer 😎.
A Goofy Movie is such a nostalgic watch for me, but I am a tad surprised to see that it warranted its own documentary. Because of that, I am actually really curious what this doc has to say.
It might not hit home for you the same way, but I couldn’t not toss it on the list.
That wraps up this edition of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays. If you made it to this point, please drop a 1️⃣, 2️⃣, or 3️⃣ in the comments to let me know what you found most interesting/useful. And as always, please like and consider sharing with a friend who you think would enjoy! I’ll be back next week. ✌️
