[Movie] Sony Pictures - Spider-Man: Brand New Day
After the absolute disappointment that was Supergirl, I’m happy that we finally have another good superhero movie (especially from Marvel). I think this was my favorite of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films. It’s a much more mature spidey—now Peter and his friends are post-college-aged, and he is dealing with real-life obstacles like loneliness, grief, and personal change.
I loved all of that, and I also thought that the action itself was brilliantly shot. Some people are complaining that this movie, and Marvel in general, have a villain problem (in that villains have either been weak, lame, and/or completely missing), but I wasn’t really bothered by any of that. I had a great time at the movies, and it seems like others have too, as it’s been setting records at the box office.
Oh btw, I also did end up seeing it in the SCREENX format that I talked about last week. It was cool, sure, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it this way.
[YouTube] ESPN MLB - Jeff Passan says there ‘WILL BE A LOCKOUT’
Yesterday marked the MLB Trade Deadline, so if you missed all of the news and are interested, this video is the perfect recap. Obviously, in my mind the Dodgers were the biggest winners for nabbing back-to-back Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal, but the experts also named the Cubs as major winners.
On the flip side, I was disheartened to hear that Passan is confident that there will be a lockout next year, which will lead to a delayed start to next season. 😞

This was maybe one of the more shocking film premises that I have seen recently, but it looks hilarious. I don’t even want to explain it, nor do I think I could. You should just watch the trailer to see for yourself (FYI NSFW).
