Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s installment of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays, where I highlight three pieces of content (Podcasts/Shows/Songs/Articles/etc.) that I found interesting or noteworthy from the prior week.
It’s New Year’s Eve, I’ve got a cup of tea in my hand, and I’m feeling quite under the weather. Norovirus? Who knows. All I know is that instead of being out celebrating another rotation of this giant rock around the Sun, I’m sitting at my desk writing this newsletter.
Hopefully my bitterness doesn’t come through the page. In reality, I’m happy. It’s wild to think that I started writing this newsletter over 6 months ago. I honestly thank every last one of you for subscribing and following along. It really means a lot to me, and I’m looking forward to more posts in 2025!
Let’s get into it:
[TV Show] HBO - The Franchise
This show is equally funny and cynical. It’s an absurd behind-the-scenes satire of a fictional super hero blockbuster film. If you’re a fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm or Silicon Valley, you will probably appreciate this “what will go wrong next” type plot.
With only 8 short episodes, it’s a quick watch. I know this is back-to-back weeks with TV show recommendations, but I have a lot of time on my hands as I lay dying.
FYI, the latest episode of Skeleton Crew is also a banger, so, you’re welcome.
[TV Special] Netflix - Beyoncé Bowl
If you watched football on Christmas, you did not watch good football. The undisputed highlight of the highly-anticipated Netflix double header was Beyoncé’s halftime show during the ugly Houston Texans v. Baltimore Ravens matchup (Ravens won 31-2).

This halftime show honestly stacks up against some of the best Super Bowl performances that I can remember. And this was just a regular season game.
Beyoncé showed out, and the production quality was top notch. They even had Post Malone with a cameo. I hope Beyoncé got a BAG from Netflix for this. I think her performance saved the Christmas day programming for them.
If you missed the games, you can now watch just Beyoncé’s set, which is all anyone cared about anyways.
[YouTube] Frequent Miler - How to use Google Flights to find great deals
This is a very practical guide to searching for and booking trips using Google Flights. For many, the travel game is overly complicated, with all the transfer partners and portals and points and miles. Google Flights is an incredibly approachable and intuitive tool that has some surprisingly useful functionalities.
I’m going to be booking a bunch of flights tomorrow to take advantage of the rent day bonus on the Bilt Mastercard (4x on travel on the first day of the month), so this was a great refresher.
That wraps up this edition of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays. If you made it to this point, please drop a 1️⃣, 2️⃣, or 3️⃣ in the comments to let me know what you found most interesting/useful. And as always, please like and consider sharing with a friend who you think would enjoy! I’ll be back next week. ✌️
