Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s installment of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays, where I highlight three pieces of content (Podcasts/Shows/Songs/Articles/etc.) that I found interesting or noteworthy from the prior week.
I’m traveling again this week, but thankfully I’m on time. This one will be a quick one.
[YouTube] Star Wars - Andor | Season 2 Trailer | Streaming April 22 on Disney+
In my opinion, Rogue One and Andor Season 1 were the best Star Wars content that Disney has put out since the original saga. Needless to say, I am looking forward to Season 2.
LucasFilm has a lot riding on this one.
Uber is now automatically converting foreign fares into your local currency. How nice of them!
Turns out, doing so will incur a 1.5% charge. Since this is automatically turned on, you will have to go into your Uber account and manually turn this off to prevent a tax on your ride abroad.
This article walks through the steps to do so, complete with screenshots. I went through the process, and it only takes about 2 minutes.
[YouTube] The Big Think - Master your anxiety. Unleash your genius | Jesse Eisenberg for Big Think+
I have so much respect for Jesse Eisenberg as a creative.
I haven’t loved every role of his, but I loved his most recent movie, A Real Pain, which he wrote, directed, and starred in. In this video, he talks about how his anxiety and fear of failure motivate him to do great work.
When you think of a director, you usually think of the bombastic, overpowering presence yelling directions from a megaphone. Eisenberg describes how he has had success as a director with the opposite temperament, through focusing on hiring people better than him and giving them the space to thrive.
With A Real Pain, Kieran Culkin is a dynamic actor, and Eisenberg did not want to stifle his creativity with excessive marks. Instead, by letting him move freely and reacting to his performance, Eisenberg was able to get the best out of him. As a fan of the film, I can say that both of their performances felt natural and real.
I just loved Jesse Eisenberg’s message: that you can reframe your anxiety as a positive force, and that some of the best leaders are those just like you.
That wraps up this edition of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays. If you made it to this point, please drop a 1️⃣, 2️⃣, or 3️⃣ in the comments to let me know what you found most interesting/useful. And as always, please like and consider sharing with a friend who you think would enjoy! I’ll be back next week. ✌️
