Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s installment of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays Wednesdays (oops!), where I highlight three pieces of content (Podcasts/Shows/Songs/Articles/etc.) that I found interesting or noteworthy from the prior week.
Please share this with as many people as you can!!! Whoever you think might find this newsletter informative, entertaining, funny, idc—just drop them a link. I would love to grow its reach, so I greatly appreciate the support!
This last week I saw both Superman and 28 Years Later. Two very different movies. Two absolute bangers.
Feels like the vibe around town this year has been that if Superman flopped, then DC, Warner Bros, super hero movies, and maybe even filmgoing itself was doomed. I walked into the theater with bated breath, and left with a warm heart.

I am not a very big horror fan, so I had to work up the courage to make my way through all three 28 Days Later movies. I can’t say I’m a convert, but those movies rock. Well… not so much the second one. But the first and the third were electric.
In addition to suggesting you see those movies, I have some shoulder content that you might enjoy. Let’s get into it.
[Documentary] HBO Max - Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story
I didn’t grow up with the Christopher Reeve Superman, so I was not aware of his story.
Wow, what a roller coaster. It’s incredibly exciting, then unbelievably sad, then ultimately inspiring.
Fun fact: his son, Will Reeve, had a cameo in the 2025 Superman.
[YouTube] Mashable - How ‘28 Years Later’ Was Shot on an iPhone
This video tells the history of how Danny Boyle first decided to shoot 28 Days Later on a consumer-grade digital video camera. The artistic choice led to a more grainy image, adding to the edge of the 2002 film. It made the movie feel as if it were filmed on the last personal camera surviving the apocalypse.
In a sort of homage to the first film, Boyle this time filmed parts of 28 Years Later with an iPhone 15 Pro Max. In addition to affordability, filming with these iPhones gave them the flexibility to film in tight spaces and in fast-moving scenes with cinema level quality. They even created a custom rig to film with 20 iPhones at once.
I think this video by Mashable does a great job of diving into the 28 Days Later history, the specifications of the camera options, and the impact of the film style on the viewer.
[Documentary] National Geographic - Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story
Jaws is coming back to theaters August 29 for its 50th Anniversary. I am sooooo excited to see it on the big screen for the first time.
I love “the making of” documentaries, and this one is a special treat. I feel like I’ve heard these stories 100 times already, but they never get old. And with new interviews with Spielberg, it’s definitely worth a watch.
That wraps up this edition of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays. If you made it to this point, please drop a 1️⃣, 2️⃣, or 3️⃣ in the comments to let me know what you found most interesting/useful. And as always, please like and consider sharing with a friend who you think would enjoy! I’ll be back next week. ✌️
