Tom's Top 3: July 28, 2026
Movie Week
Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s installment of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays, where I highlight three pieces of content (Podcasts/Shows/Movies/Articles/etc.) that I found interesting or noteworthy from the prior week.
Please toss me a like and share this with as many people as you can!!! Whoever you think might find this newsletter informative, entertaining, funny, idc—just drop them a link. It really helps grow the newsletter, so I greatly appreciate the support!
[Movie] A24 - The Invite
I finally got around to seeing this movie today, and I understand why it has had such good word of mouth. It’s uncomfortably funny, in a good way. With a great cast (just four people) and an amazing set design (just one location), I am impressed with how much The Invite accomplishes with so little.
[Podcast] The Rewatchables - ‘Obsession’ With Bill Simmons, Chris Ryan, and Joanna Robinson
Another good 2026 movie was Obsession. It’s rare that The Rewatchables covers current movies, but the buzz around this movie warranted a deeper dive. I wouldn’t say the podcast elucidated anything for me about the movie, but it was certainly entertaining and made me remember how much I enjoyed Obsession.

[YouTube] SCREENX - Shot for SCREENX | Spider-Man: Brand New Day
The next Spider-Man movie is coming out on Friday. Now I have never heard of SCREENX before, but I learned today that this film will be the first to be shot specifically for this format. Interesting choice.
Pretty much, certain showings have screens on the sides of the wall so that the movie is projected in a 270 degree range. I’m certainly intrigued by this, and might be so inclined to check it out, but I will try to see it in Dolby first for sure.
Who knows, maybe SCREENX is the future of film?

If you made it to this point, drop a comment to say hi. And as always, please like and consider sharing with a friend who you think would enjoy! I’ll be back next week. ✌️
