[YouTube] 60 Minutes - Christopher Nolan: The 60 Minutes Interview
The Odyssey is being released on July 17. Cue the promotions.
Directors are as much of a brand as any other form of IP, and Nolan is one of this generation’s true auteurs. I am very excited about The Odyssey—this summer is shaping up to be a fun one at the movies.
The interview touches on Nolan’s distinct style, his growth as a director, and the anticipation for The Odyssey.
[YouTube] 60 Minutes - Why Christopher Nolan shot “The Odyssey” on IMAX film
This movie is the first ever fully shot with IMAX cameras. 2 million feet of IMAX film.
These days, Premium Large Format (PLF) screens like IMAX seems to be the saving grace for movie theaters. It just still is impossible to replicate the scale of the big screen anywhere else.
Nolan has leaned into this, and he has increasingly shot in IMAX throughout this career. But historically, IMAX has been reserved for wide shots or large set pieces because the cameras are far too loud to use during dialogue.

This is no longer the case for The Odyssey. Nolan worked with the IMAX team to build a custom case for the camera so that it was much quieter. Matt Damon explained in the video that it was so heavy (300+ pounds), to the point where the crew had to build special dollies with steel plating just to hold it.
Personally, I think not seeing this movie at least once in IMAX this summer will be a crime.
Chase recently rolled out a new spending category on some of their cards: Paze.
Paze is an digital wallet that is only available to use when checking out on particular vendors. You can earn an additional 10 points per dollar spent on purchases, up to $1500 in purchases a month.
Some of the notable vendors include: United Airlines, Newegg, Domino’s Pizza, Dunkin Donuts, and Sephora.
This is perfect for when I spend $1500 on coffee in a month!

If you made it to this point, drop a comment to say hi. And as always, please like and consider sharing with a friend who you think would enjoy! I’ll be back next week. ✌️
