Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s installment of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays, where I highlight three pieces of content (Podcasts/Shows/Songs/Articles/etc.) that I found interesting or noteworthy from the prior week.
If you’re new here, please consider subscribing to my newsletter — the creatively named: Tom’s Newsletter. In addition to posts like these, I write about my interests (the entertainment industry, sports, fitness, productivity, and more!) and books that I am reading.
If you find at least one thing in this post useful, please drop a like and share with a friend using the link below. I really appreciate the support!
Let me start this off by saying that y’all can eat whatever you want. I’m not your doctor, and I’m not your mom. These are just some twists on classic foods I love. I still eat the regular versions, but I will mix in these alternates from time to time to work towards my fitness goals.
Let’s get into it:
[Strong Snack] Greek Yogurt Onion Dip
My favorite appetizer in the world is the classic Sour Cream & Onion Dip. This has been a staple at pretty much every single family gathering, to the point where my cousin thought it was my mom’s own recipe.
In fact, it’s the easiest, tastiest snack that requires next to zero prep. All you do is empty a container of sour cream into a bowl (I prefer Knudsen), mix in a packet of onion mix (I prefer Lipton), and serve with potato chips (I prefer Ruffles).
The bummer is that the sour cream and Ruffles come at a caloric cost, especially if you’re like me and have zero self control. In the past, I’ve tried using light sour cream, but let’s be honest, it sucks.
So I recently tried something different. Rather than sour cream, I used nonfat greek yogurt. On the surface, this sounds terrible. I was definitely skeptical. But I have to say, I did not notice a significant difference. So instead of feeling guilty when the bottom of the bowl came closer and closer, I felt fine, knowing that I was working towards my protein goals.
Take a look at the nutritional difference:
Knudsen Hampshire 100% Natural Sour Cream - 170g

Simple Truth Organic Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt - 2/3 Cup (170g)

[Protein Pizza] Low Carb Love - Easy Chicken Crust Recipe in 10 Minutes
I haven’t tried this yet, but I’ve been seeing these recipes pop up more and more.
My Italian ancestors are probably rolling in their graves watching me type this. But Papa Maimone, how else am I supposed to make gains??
Looking forward to testing this one out.
[Tasty Treat] Protein Root Beer Floats
This one might sound even more strange, but hear me out.
I love root beer floats, but I rarely have them. Don’t we all deserve more root beer floats in our lives? Here is a way to get the same taste while also working on your recovery.
Mix about an even amount of Sugar Free A&W Root Beer and Fairlife Core Power Vanilla Protein Shake. You don’t get the same textural sensation of a classic root beer float, but it tastes pretty damn similar. Play around with the ratio of each to find the perfect balance of root beer and vanilla for you.
You get a nice, little sweet treat without breaking the metaphorical belly bank. There’s also no caffeine, so you don’t have to worry about this as a late night snack. One of those Core Power Protein Shakes nets you:
Calories: 170
Fat: 4.5g
Carb: 6g
Protein: 26g
Not too shabby.
That wraps up this edition of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays. If you know anyone who would like this newsletter, please consider sharing. I’ll be back next week. ✌️
