Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s installment of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays, where I highlight three pieces of content (Podcasts/Shows/Songs/Articles/etc.) that I found interesting or noteworthy from the prior week.
If you’re new here, please consider subscribing to my newsletter — the creatively named: Tom’s Newsletter. In addition to posts like these, I write about my interests (the entertainment industry, sports, fitness, productivity, and more!) and books that I am reading.
If you find at least one thing in this post useful, please drop a like and share with a friend using the link below. I really appreciate the support!
I’ll level with you: work’s been busy, I’m moving apartments, and the holiday weekend got away from me. Excuses, I know, but it do be like that sometimes.
As such, this week will be a little short on the commentary from me, but I still have three things for you.
Let’s get into it.
[YouTube] James Hoffmann - Is Andrew Huberman Ruining Your Morning Coffee?
James Hoffmann is my go-to resource for all things coffee. He shares incredible product reviews, tutorials, and experiments on his channel. In this video, he goes head-to-head with one of my other favorites.
Andrew Huberman provides “science-based tools for everyday life.” Some people find that these “science-based tools” tend to become new, unlocked anxieties.
I am some people.
James Hoffmann aims to soothe one of my anxieties. In this video, he tests Huberman’s claim that you should wait 60-90 minutes after waking before consuming caffeine. Huberman believes this extra time is necessary to dispose of the built up adenosine, the neurotransmitter that makes you feel sleepy.
I love my morning coffee, and I love confirmation bias. So if James Hoffmann says I can have it my way, that’s all I need to hear.
[YouTube] Real Engineering - The Insane Engineering of the Gameboy
I’m obviously not an engineer, but I love learning about engineering. I take for granted the genius that goes into everyday things, and the tech behind the Gameboy is truly astounding for the time period.
I logged a lot of hours on the Gameboy’s successor, the Gameboy SP. What a thing of beauty.

[Podcast Series] The Big Picture - The Hollywood Hack
I was in high school when the Sony hack happened. Definitely did not grasp the severity of the situation then.
This 3-part series shows how the hack pulled back the curtain on Hollywood, and it wasn’t pretty.
While entertaining, this series did not leave me with many practical takeaways to report.
Well, I guess I do have one:
Be careful what you say in your work emails.
That wraps up this edition of Tom’s Top 3 Tuesdays. If you know anyone who would like this newsletter, please consider sharing. I’ll be back next week. ✌️
